Ofsted’s Common Inspection Framework has been published and is effective from September 2015. In this guest post, Shena Lewington has, very helpfully, extracted the grade descriptors for overall effectiveness, effectiveness of leadership and management, teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for pupils. Grade descriptors for Early Years (page 62) and 16-19 are not included.

Grade descriptors for overall effectiveness (page 37 of Handbook)
- The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding.
- All other key judgements are likely to be outstanding. In exceptional circumstances one of the key judgements may be good, as long as there is convincing evidence that the school is improving this area rapidly and securely towards outstanding.
